645d IR

I had to laugh.

645d IR by Pentax-Ricoh.

Apparently, if you want to buy one, you ave to specify its use in writing and stick to it. Very funny.

My Google Fu isn't very strong tonight so I can't find the exact model, but there was a Fujifilm super-zoom/bridge style camera several years back that had the same stipulations. The camera was a special version manufactured for forensic use. As I recall, the obvious buyers were law enforcement, but the average Joe could get them, too, as long as the appropriate document was submitted.

Well maybe this is a IR-only converted camera to be special ordered. I think a very good idea. Not a big market, but then again it will provide a service to some landscap customers.

Phase One makes the achromatic+ back. Panchromatic with extended UV/IR range w/w.o. cutoff filters.
I see no market for a Pentax 645d with extended range - probably it is just imagined as a camera without cutoff filter still haveing R-G-B pattern infront of the sensor.

First of all,
this camera is made for criminalists, restorers, for building inspection, biology tests and e.t.c.

Camera is placed in security equipment of Ricoh.

SONY got into limelight with their original Night-Shot cam-corders. People were using them to get images through clothing.. So maybe there is a legal driving force behind the agreement.
