I am considering "downgrade" my DA 16-45 to 18-55 WR, only because of the weather seal.

What if Pentax upgrade all its lenses to WR? Isn't this an excellent way to differentiate us from others?

Oh man, that would be great, the 16-45 is a lens a lot of people here really love. But I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
You might want to also consider the 18-135mm WR (probably better than the 18-55, though not as cheap) or maybe a WR prime. Because, WR is a good thing to have in some situations and even a not-great WR lens is better than no lens or damaged equipment.

I doubt. There is already the 16-50 DA* which is weather sealed.

The design of the 16-45 would likely be problematic to seal. For one thing, it is at its longest extension at 16mm.
