Pentax's First Real Advertisement!

Pentax's First Real Advertisement! It's for the Q10!

@1:06 in the video

I wonder if it was shot with a Pentax?

Oh, this may sound a bit sarcastic but we have other companies with all sorts of other toys and we have multicolored Q10 bodies...Ok, I so love the colors too. The are Qute.

Edit: we've been here before with other DSLR bodies too.

I saw a Target ad that had the Pentax Optio WG-2 for sale in store. Is this new?

The Target deal took place while Ned was still president of Pentax America. Too bad he couldn't get them to carry the K-30 in-store.

Its not the first real ad, even in modern times. There was a great set of videos placed online for use in the Home Market for the K-30.

I'm not a Q guy, but I actually think this is a good move. On one end of the camera market, we've got high end SLRs and on the other, the market is losing volume to iPhones. This may drag hipsters back into real ILCs who were settling for their phone cameras. I'll bet it turns out to be a shrewd business move. Think of it as a way to fund the full-frame project.

Do you mean Japan by home market? I have seen the K30 ads on their youtube channel.

Did you see the banner ad on the building in the video at 1:06?

The current head of Pentax Ricoh Americas, hired this past September, is Jim Malcolm, a man who has built his career in marketing. Google his name + LinkedIn to see his resume. His hiring signals to me that Pentax is focusing more on marketing in the future.

Yes and yes. Pentax has done such things in Japan in the recent past for the Q, K-30, etc. Doing them at CES this year is a HUGE step up from the toilet room that Pentax had last year. Still, its not the first ad for Pentax, even recently.

That is true. I won't disagree with that. It's Pentax's first real ad in the US.
