Photography Presentation Idea

Hello Everyone!

I am part of a weekly networking group and I need to give my 10 minute presentation. I am trying to come up with a topic and having some mental blocks. Since I'm the only photographer in the group, I don't want to get technical. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you in advance!
Eric

Are you able to show material on screen?

If so, what about selecting soem of your photos from a theme of interest to you, and potentially to your audience. Then talk about the best few pictures, combining the photography features of what makes the picture good and something about the subject matter, to show why your pictures tell something interesting abotut he subject matter.

If you're the only photographer then I'd try to give them some pointers on how to make the most out of their P&S and Cell Phone Cameras. A topic like lighting, open shade, or similar can be done easily, with photos to illustrate and could really improve someones photos.

Don't forget that sometimes a "bad" photo will get an idea across better than a "good" photo. You might consider showing a bad then good version of the same photo. As an example show how say a fill flash can make a photo better.

For most people it is easy to talk about something you know well. So make a list of five things or activities you know a lot about. From the list choose a couple you think would be fun, or quirky. Grab some big sticky notes and write out the most important or personal aspects of each topic you can share. Just write one key thing per note and then arrange them later in a order that would make an engaging story.

On different stickies--maybe another color--sketch or note any photos or graphics that can support your story. These can serve as placeholders.

Transfer the whole chain into something like PowerPoint, insert art, bring props, practice talking and smiling, and you should be good.
