Staying fresh when shooting weddings

Hello,

I'm addressing to all weddings photographers on this forum.

How do you keep fresh through this loooong day? What do you drink/eat to keep active? How do you fight fatigue?

Thank you.

I have long shoots, not weddings mind, but I guess the same guidelines will apply.

For me it's coffee, mars bars and a sense of humour, in any order you like, but all three are important. Also a seat when you can.

Having a thermos of strong coffe nearby sounds like a good idea, but I see two disadvantages:
1. Coffe has very little calories, so it is not effective in the long run (unless you drink cup after cup)
2. WC.

I've heard that bananas and coke make an excellent combo.

Aye, but that's where the mars bars kick in.

if I am there for the full day, while the meal is on I also eat , mostly provided by the couple, if they don't supply I will buy or get food from the venue and have a meal and a non alcoholic drink.

I am also entitled to a work break, after all I am a employee.

While they are eating[ and wasting time photography wise] I go look for nice locations , maybe set up some lights and get ready for some posed or fun images with the couple and selected guests in the time between after the meal / speeches and first dance.

Another great idea would be to eat foods high in vitamin C.
"Vitamin C supports vital functions in your body, and although it does not work to specifically keep you awake (vitamin C has not proven to increase energy levels), taking vitamin C helps prevent fatigue" (source: Does Vitamin C Help You Stay Awake? | LIVESTRONG.COM)

Also, most of the vitamins, you need to stay active, you can get from nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts and so on). (source The Best Vitamins For Energy | LIVESTRONG.COM)

Multivitamins, Clif Bars, Coffee, OJ or Lemonade, and pleeeenty of water! I basically setup for a long photo day the same way I do for an endurance bicycle ride. Works wonders.

Accept offers of a meal at the reception.
And keep some snacks in your camera bag that can take a little beating (like a muesli bar rather than a banana).
Multivitamins are unnecessary if your regular diet is balanced.

Especially when you forgot it was there, discovery a few days later is not at all pleasant.

Does that result in an infestation of fungus? Not nice in the bag.

No it was worse than that, it was a coat pocket and I only found it when I put my hand in looking for something else.
