What would you do if we actually did get a FF?

I've been at various levels of activity here on PF for few years now. I always find it interesting how passionate people get about the FF debate/rumors/speculating etc. I think the only thing we can agree on when it comes to a Pentax FF DSLR is that it is currently a unicorn.

What I'm wondering is, what would people who get so passionate about it do, if we did, in fact, get a FF? I mean where would all their FF flame war energy go?

I'm kinda thinking the universe would explode and wombats would rise to rule the earth.

My prediction is that if a Pentax FF camera were ever announced/shipped, less than 1% of the people crying for one would actually buy one.

I was just about to say that.

To respond simply: I'd likely buy one after a year or two when the price settles.

If that - and that's probably part of the reason why they haven't come out with one yet:

I will start buying the new high-end lenses made for a modern FF Pentax camera. I will be using it on one of my K-5 bodies or if I like like I see then the aps-c K-3 body. Then after getting the lenses and saving a bunch of money I will get a FF Pentax but it will be a while.

Everyone would immediately start complaining about the extra weight, poor grip design, lack of 228 point AF, failure to automatically track Jupiter's moons in AF.C, lack of fast cheap glass for it, poor response time, front focus issues, back focus issues, file sizes too big, only has 12fps in RAW, buffer too small, no dual card slots, no built-in wi-fi, lack of cellular connection option, only 24mp instead of 36mp, and poor low light auto-focus. /sarc

Happy to be one of the 1%...

But seriously, I would probably buy it. I have stopped buying glass for the time being because I don't know what my next camera will be. I want a DA 15mm and a DA 35mm macro but that is on hold until I have a better idea what Pentax is going to do. If they do come out with a good FF then the glass budget shifts to 24-70 f/2.8 and who knows what else. If I decide to stay APS-C the k-5 is good for at least 2 more years.

I'd be a little skeptical about it. Pentax is already slow about putting out new lenses, if they have to split their attention between a DA and FA line I hope it doesn't slow things down even more.

Sorry but that's simply not so true.
Pentax is bring out 3 to 4 lenses a year and that for the past 5 years or so.
Not many other companies bring out more lenses...

I'm usually quiet on these discussions, but I'd buy it.
