Hilarious Instructional Video about Lens Disassembly

I laughed so hard hard at this video of a guy demonstrating how to open a 135mm lens for cleaning. From the beginning I cringed at his technique using the scissors - the thought of him jamming the scissors into his hand. if you are bored watching from the beginning you could fast forward to 4:05 where we see him with a bandaid on his thumb and a totally destroyed lens. I laughed so hard at this point. I recommend watching from the begginging as it really builds up to a climax.

It was probably a run of the mill mediocre lens, but it appeared to be reasonably well cared for and in pretty good shape. However, it did not deserve to be destroyed in the way this well meaning but clumsy klutz went about it. It was just very painful to watch. It was like watching a accident in very slow motion, knowing what was eventually going to happen. At least he did not put the scissors through his hand.

That's why I use technical guys for this sort of thing when required.

I don't tell them how to clean lenses, they don't tell me how to take pictures, it's an arrangement that works really well.

I also love how he cleans the elements in his bare hands, ensuring oil from his fingers and thereby defeating the entire purpose.

That was scary. Is that on purpose? Some type of humour I don't get? Its a terrifying thought that someone might "follow his advice" but I doubt anyone would be that dumb.
He is using all the wrong tools, constantly touching the glass elements with his bare fingers, destroys pretty much everything he touches.. :/ that poor lens

Loved it! Should be required viewing for every thread that asks "how do I clean the dust out from inside my lens?"
(Answer: leave it the heck alone!)
