You might think about an adaptor from your US mains plug to the UK/Euro styles.

You guys are taking a lot of stuff with you. I'm planning a K-50 + DA40 F2.8 Limited for this purpose. That's a total weight of about 900 grams. To it comes one extra battery (or AA batteries when possible on the K-50), a charger, and SDHC memory cards.

Yeah, I usually travel pretty light compared to most people here. K-30 and DA 40 Limited for me, plus the 18-55 DAL (crappy piece of crap, but it's the widest lens I have). And of course a case, monopod, extra AAs, and remote control F.

Just spent a week at Disney with the family, took pretty much what you did: 18-135, Sigma 30/1.4, 15 Ltd and added the 10-17 FE. Never felt like I was missing anything. WR travel zoom, fast normal, wide, fisheye; all bases covered except tele, which is useless on holiday. I took my Tak55 along for the ride, but it stayed in the hotel: No time for MF with the family around.

One thing I like about the Sigma with the 18-135 is they share filters.

I think you have room in your bag for the fisheye....you know you want it.

LOL.

Yep. I spend all year planning for the next adventure, and I *usually* take too much.
Thanks to Lightroom, I can narrow things down a bit this year since I can look at the metadata and see what lens/focal lengths I use the most.

One of the great things about Lightroom is the Metadata info.

I agree that it's not bad, probably one of the better kit lenses then the competitors, however it is still probably the worst the lens that I have. I've built up a fairly decent kit (40 Limited, DA* 55, Tamron 90 Macro, Tamron 70-200, Tamron 70-300), but I've kind of neglected the wide-angle spectrum of it...

I brought the following gear to Paris:

K20D, K-x
10-17 fisheye, 18-135mm, 55-300mm
DA 15mm, FA 35mm, DA 40 Ltd, D FA 100mm macro
49mm CPL, Puffer, batteries, AA charger, memory
Small messenger bag, Pentax sling bag

All of the above fits in the sling bag. The messenger bag holds a body with lens mounted and one spare prime. When empty it takes up no space in my suitcase. I don't believe I used the 100mm macro, I used all the others.

For a destination with more nature and wildlife opportunities, I add a DA*300, tripod and TC and replace the sling bag with a Think Tank backpack.

For my next trip I might have to rethink, as I now have a K-01 and Q kit.

Wow, only 10Kg of climbing gear? It must be top of the line equipment. Add food, personal items and you must get close to 20Kg easely? on my last trip I took 28Kg the first days (until we ate some of it) Also, we where at 4000m over sea level so it was pretty nasty. But I was "just" carrying 4Kg of photo gear!

I did this also, it is really a useful tool to learn about what you use most and what for. It turns out I shoot a lot of landscapes arround 200mm and a lot of portraits between 20-30mm
