24x36 mirrorless : seems SONY will be first, once again ...

No "Earthcake argument" please...

Let's explain WHY PENTAX DIDN'T YET.... with K-01 CONCEPT and still more than 8 FF compatible K-mount lenses in production...

And as far as we can see, SONY's E-mount will generate strong vigneting - to be treated by internal software - so there seems no problem in having sensor stabilisation in K-mount FF either...

Well, they can't sell FF DSLR's so perhaps they will be more sucessful with FF mirrorless?

Pentax also didn't release a black and white full frame viewfinder camera a few years ago when Leica released theirs.

You really want to discuss why Pentax didn't release a FF mirrorless before Sony?

Ever considered that Pentax hasn't even released a DSLR in FF yet? The reasons are the same. So are we going to have the same arguments all over and just add "mirrorless" once in a while?

What a useful thread.

Sony knows they have the upper hand as a sensor provider. Everyone relying on them need to be worried about them becoming too successful. There is probably no way for Pentax get their hands on that FF mirrorless sensor any time soon even if they want.

The Sony E mount has zero vignetting when using full frame lenses on the full frame Sony NEX-VG900.

Great. Excellent. We won't have to hear, over and over again, how Pentax could rule the world by being "first" for 2 months on the amazingly large FF MILC market. Now we'll be back to the regular "Pentax is doomed" background noise.

Sony is trying so hard to innovate something new, to revolutionize the industry, to become a leader by new technology. But its still not popular. its missing a certain something.
Pentax has that certain something! Brand recognition among long time photographers, tradition and history, great lenses and well-built cameras. But it seems Pentax is the exact opposite of Sony - believing the turtle will beat the hare. Staying in third (fourth? fifth?) place instead of trying to be #1 (in terms of sales, a lot of us already chose Pentax as #1 for some reason)

Is trying to overpass both Nikon and Canon a realistic goal? Obtainable in the mid future? I beleive that Ricoh stated they wanted to be a strong third. And how important is it to us Pentax users for either Pentax to be the biggest camera company or the first to put a certain product on the market? Yes we all want the company to be strong and to come out with new and exciting products but to be first with everything or being the biggest is not something I personally care about. It also seems like each of us has a different view of what those products should be though.

And even if Pentax was the first to announce a FF mirrorless the thread would be flooded with complaints that the camera was not going to be on the shelves by tomorrow morning

Yep.

And then when it does hit the shelves the same people will say it is too expensive and they won't buy it and Pentax is Dooooooomed again.....

Old news, not Pentax related and already being discussed in the non-Pentax forum.
