Things you hate to hear in a camera shop

I was checking out the Pentax display at Gordon's Photo in Reno and heard this:

Customer: I need to get my camera serviced [it was a Nikon DSLR].

Store employee: We can take care of it for you. What would you like us to do?

Customer: I was cleaning my camera and used a can of compressed air to clean the inside. Only it wasn't compressed air. It was lubricant.

Store employee: Oh...

Something else you don't want to hear: "Well, that's a gonner!"

Cringe. Major problem. Makes the "sensor stain" issue seem trivial.

Ha! No it was a D3200, or something like that.

Sorry sir, sold out (after driving 150km while the website and a salesman on the phone tell you that the specific item is indeed in stock)

I don't hear anything in my local Pentax shop as there isn't one. All I hear when I'm buying camera gear is the gentle click of a computer keyboard in my study. Therefore the one thing I wouldn't want to hear is "Dad, where is all this smoke coming from?".

Regards

A camera shop I went into once, to look at a K30, seemed to be staffed by people who had no idea.

The salesman could only really say that the K30 "has a grip, to make it easier to hold"

He then went off and said "oh, look at this Pentax lens, it's small" (referring to the 40mmXS pancake lens)

So, yeah....

According to him, I should buy a K30 because it's got a hand grip, and the 40XS because it's small.

I heard rumours they also can take pictures or something?

Shhh! That's just an unconfirmed rumor. We wouldn't want people to get too excited, now, would we?
