Time for a digital LX, Pentax...

the new Nikon is GORGEOUS!

Now, if Chevy would only reissue the 69 Chevelle with modern running gear at a decent price...

They'd sell about a billion of them, wouldn't they?

Cheers

Agreed! I'm a sucker for the retro camera look. I think the majority of DSLRs on the market are ugly.

You've hurt my camera's feelings now. It's sulking in the cupboard and it won't come out to play!

And how about a thoroughly updated Datsun 240Z? Lean and mean....

And a digital reincarnation of the classic LX? Interchangeable finders, exposure measurement off the sensor.... Yum!

I personally don't much like that design. I think if you're going retro you need to do it comprehensively or very subtly. Not this fusion approach Nikon has taken.

I just looked at the Nikon DF on B&H. That beauty could make me jump ship! The retro look with a purpose, it seems designed for those of us who grew up on film. But I can't afford the cost of the camera AND rebuilding my lens collection.

Retro-shmetro. It's time to move on!

That "digital F3" is a barnacle-encrusted horror,
and that Chevelle would not meet modern construction standards.

To each their own, I guess.

I would rather have a modern "Limited" camera, instead of a DSLR with some old style dials on top.

The Nikon looks like a Nikon - a CGI exported from the movie Alien - all bumps and horns. The Chevelle is always available as a Resto-Mod. Pentax should reserve the LX-x line for the (that-which-shall-not-be-named) camera.

Amen. Show me something new! Not angst ridden nostalgia for generation I can not relate -- no matter how much disposable income they have to relive their youth.

I believe the MX-1 was the test bed to provide the direction for future Pentax camera design, so I fully expect the LX-D to be proper brass.

Well, I like it (and the '69 Chevy - sweet). I read all the details on the camera and lens late last night on the Nikon website, and pre-ordered the silver version with lens from B&H this morning.

Not a bad looking camera, this Nikon Df. And is nice to have manual basic controls. But in terms of ergonomics I think is not so good. Choosing an 16Mp FF sensor is questionable, with pluses and minuses. In my opinion, this camera is very appealing for collectors, but if Pentax decide to make such a camera, FF or not, I would choose a traditional DSLR body instead.

I love my old Nikon Film cameras, But I think the New Nikon is kinda clunky.

Besides, once I got used to modern DSLR thumb wheels and buttons I'll never go back to a stack of dials.

Things are better now. But I still shoot some film just because
