I fear it's because the demand for the Pentax mount is not as great as for the other brands, just maybe down to the laws of economics pure and simple.

Once they sell everything they make to Canikon types and sales slow down, they'll slap a Pentax mount on a few they don't have orders for. And if you want it, buy it quick when they release it, because it may not last long.

They're taking so long that I'm starting to question whether or not the lens will even be coming out, despite reading that it will.

My friends at Gentec, the Canadian Sigma distributor, have already done "mount replacement" on three new lenses for someone here in Ontario because they got tired of waiting. There's now a Pentax mount 18-35 f/1.8 and a 120-300 f/2.8 out there, and a 24-105 f/4 mount waiting. The last two aren't even supposed to be available for Pentax! The parts (including ROM chips) in Pentax mount must be available to do this, so my guess is these lenses are ready for production in Pentax mount. Naturally, no distributor is going to say "we're selling every Nikon and Canon mount lens you send us... can you stop and make some in Sony and Pentax?"

Sure! Only costs $799, and it will say "DP3" on the outside so you know it's been modified. I think the case takes up 20mm of focal length, though...

I E-mailed Sigma about this, and they said it will be probably March before we see the 18-35!
