Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3

"Greetings"

Recently I received an email from Photography Bay advertising the new Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 which will only be available for Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts, and is expected to be available on mid January/2014.

Anyone have any idea why Pentax/Ricoh has not been considered for this new product release?

Much lower sales volume of course!

Possibly, but it's too bad, because I'm sure there are allot of people who use the Pentax system who can benefit form a lens like this, providing the IQ is good.

Yes, that would be great. We can only hope that Pentax will do a good job with the upcoming telephoto zoom that's on the roadmap!

Lower volume as other have said. But I also wonder if Tamron is reluctant to go where Sigma is already well established....ie; the wonderful and sharp 150-500 Sigma with Pentax mount.

Has Tamron ever made a lens with built in motor and optical stabilization for Pentax mount before?
If not, it might require lot of R&D and testing to get it ready, so they might want to do it on a more mainstream lens first.

Or Tamron would have to make a unique version of the lens without optical stabilisation for Pentax, which also require extra resources.

Yes, Tamron does have a line of lenses with built in motors.

But are any of them available in K-mount? And more importantly are there any Tamron lenses with both AF-motor and optical stabilisation available in K-mount? The only "Tamron" lens with AF motor I have seen available for K-mount is the Pentax version on 18-270. But that don't have optical stabilisation like the Tamron version of 18-270.
