Pentax at CES

So no Pentax/Ricoh at CES this year?
Cannot recall did Pentax ever announced something at CES?

2014 International CESŪ Exhibitor Details - Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation

If anything is announced it won't be more than a new Optio. CES simply isn't used for big camera announcements.

Haven't looked it up, but from Memory Pentax usually announced a P&S at CES or something similar.

No big deal if we don't hear anything at CES. I think 2014 is going to be a big year, but it seems like we'll have to wait to the fall. Hopefully we get a spring release of something too.

The MX-1 was announced at CES last year. Nothing in 2012.

Ricoh Imaging has a full-sized booth and a premium conference room in Central Hall, so they plan something for CES, even if they only show everything they have. The CES website mouseover calls out the K3 spec.'s.

From what I hear the PR / Event Planners people in Denver have been working hard on this.

It might just be to push their product to retailers and dealers building their channel, less at making announcements and grabbing press with product announcements.

Really? If they're pop-ups / mouseovers they are new. Last time I checked was Saturday. IMHO RIAC appears to be using CES for product line presentations to potential and actual dealers.

Pentax hasn't shown off the K-3 at a big US show yet, so I bet that's what they'll be doing this year. We might see a lot more at CP+ this year than last year, which reminds me of what happened in 2012 at both shows.

The thing that I get disappointed isn't shown off every year is a high resolution color (or even a greyscale one optimized for b/w photos) digital picture frame. Glowing LCD picture frames are just gross and require a wall wart. E-ink with a frame that either has a few solar cells integrated or has an integrated battery that can last a long time (i.e. change a picture once an hour for a year) between charges or changes.

Are there any electrical engineers out there in pentax land want to make this a reality?

+1

I've never been able to get my head around how much choice in digital picture making there is, and how little choice there is in showing pictures digitally. And the little choices that do exist are fugly, and badly designed.
