"it's photography, Jim, but not as we know it" (to paraphrase a line from the song "Star Trekkin': - it wasn't said in the original Star Trek series). We all have our reasons for being involved in photography. The "fringe art" application is not my style and I don't see the observations in this piece being applicable to what I think of as mainstream photography. Image recording technology will service our needs as long as there are enough of us to provide a market for the product.

I tend to agree. Abstract digital image creation may be a perfectly legitimate form of art and expression. But it's not photography in my book.
