I'd still be pretty pissed if they expected me to toilet myself in a large public bathroom without dividers, stalls, etc. No. That's NOT acceptable. I don't care what their expectation of privacy is. What matters to me is MINE! I'm ok with sharing sleeping quarters, especially with teammates. I'm not ok with open toilets or showers.

it's not like they didn't know they were hosting the Olympics and the world just suddenly arrived on their doorstep. The very least they could've done was to make sure basic, hygienic facilities were available.

It's very interested to see what kind of comments first-world country Westerners have to say on these things. And yes, I'm one of them, but getting to be well traveled. Currently, in Da Nang. Second of 5 countries for this trip.

I get a chuckle about Sochi because I'm used to no personal space, having to squat for #2 while the cleaning lady is mopping at feet. I'm happy when there's reasonable cleanliness and toilet paper when I hit the bathroom.

I recall days riding my bike to work in India and catching men peeing on the fence, squatting in the field, and women washing up in a ditch.

How about my living and working in the Middle East without toilet paper? Even funnier is that I'm still wiping left-handed, despite being a righty.

Folks, really, the Sochi situation isn't bad, it's just different.
