Ontario newlyweds’ photo shoot derailed by train, literally

QuoteQuote:
It starts off like a dream — a late summer day, a lush backdrop and a picturesque trestle bridge, where a bride and groom are posing for what will surely be memorable wedding photos, surrounded by friends and family.

Stupidity! Lucky it wasn't a fast running train.

In this State, trespassing like that could incur a $5,500 fine for each person.

BTW, I'm an ex- railway signalman and have had to read the reports where idiots have come to grief. Our interurban trains are called Whispering Death by railway employees for a very good reason.

In my town one double-track main line runs a 1 1/4 mile coal train or double-stack container well unit train every 45 minutes. Loads eastbound, empties westbound, so a train every 20 plus minutes. The second runs a goods manifest every couple hours.

The rights-of-way are open, and a convenient walking trail. We are a 'No Train Whistle' community with full-blockade crossings.

It is truly astonishing how quiet the empties can be running downgrade at 30mph. At least once a year . . . . .
