Originally posted by Mikesul There is not a lot of action there yet. Maybe some more of us should help it get started. I think it is another bit of evidence that Ricoh is trying to improve name recognition
That is no evidence at all.
The name recognition comes from timely engaging people with cameras and other products and services they ask for, not from products no one ever asked for. But it is easier for anyone to open an online forum that costs $100, than to invest in products and marketing that will cost $10 million, isn't it?
With two online Pentax communities, and one Ricoh community already thriving, and at least one of them delivering superior information and a wealth of resources (Pentax Forums), I do not understand what Ricoh really wants to accomplish.
Unless they want to open a troubleshooting Q&A, like Apple, Samsung and other companies have, their efforts in 'engaging' are waste of time. People from all over the wprld come to Pentax Forums to feel good and talk about just everything in a neutral zone. But to do the same under the Ricoh's US corporate flag, is no fun at all.
Anyway, it is not that I am dismissing the idea, but it is 3 years too late and I cannot see it catching up. For one reason, people are tired in re-posing of the same issues across forums, and on Pentax Forums at least, everything has already been said about every conceivable
Pentax-related issue. But if Ricoh thinks people will come there to
talk Ricoh, or, about their latest rebranded JK Imaging products that have Ricoh's name, then they are kidding, right?
