How Much for a Photo?

To update this post, the publisher has a rate sheet, and since the found my image online it is considered stock, if they would assign you to shoot an image it would start at $225, depending on publication, and where it would appear in the publication. As a stock image that was printed at around a one inch size, I was offered $40, which was OK by me, I also got credited. A stock cover would bee $300. I got a copy of the publication in the mail yesterday, (it looks better than my scan does). The tiny owl photo is mine.
