I got my latest issue of Pop Photo and they had a item on the cover about their review of the Sony A6300.

But then I opened it and the inside cover and next page was a two page spread for the K-1!

I was totally floored.

It hit on a good assortment of its features: SR, Pixel Shift, GPS/Astro Tracer and more.

And the slogan was decent. "It's full frame, evolved".

But man, a two page inside cover spread. It does show at least some commitment to promoting the brand.

Edit: And I just finished skimming through it and the back cover is the K-1 also!

Woot, woot, woot!

That's good news. Ricoh have two other opportunities to introduce Pentax as part of their advertising programme. They have banners at the end of the power stage on World Rally Championship events, they could add Pentax in an environment in which Canikon dominates. similarly they sponsor Italian Football matches, again an environment dominated by Canikon.

No, but you have Chasseurs d'images and Réponses Photo! Both much better than Pop Photo...

That's really great. BrianL's suggestion on using banners is also fine. The use of billboard in big cities would also be a good move. Digital format magazines of National Geographic and Time magazine would also help. Photography magazines is also another good area to tap. Videos should also be used on TV commercials. There are a lot of ways of advertising and branding promotion to move the entire brand. But yes, this is a good start.

Back cover ad for K-1 on May issue. Astrotracer shot picture ties in nicely with article inside on photographing the Milky Way. Second article wondering if the K-1 is the perfect astrophotography camera.

Forgot to say, the 2/3rds of a page are a larger image of the K-1's back (LCD monitor extended) and some text.

I don't know who came with the idea of using the condensed font phrases 'FullFrameByPentax' etc but if I were a graphic designer responsible for Ricoh Corporate ID, I'd plan a murder. It is hiddeous! It seems to be coming from the US as their website is the only one using it. I am sorry, but it ruins the design quality of the whole advert and Pentax and Ricoh logos. I would imagine someone had carefully reviewed this before spending the horendous money. But of course I am happy they are advertising!
