That was the most comprehensive and inquiring Pentax survey I've seen.

I encouraged them to revamp the DA* lineup (esp the 16-50mm), add weather sealing and DC motors to ALL primes, and introduce f/4 zooms to Full Frame. oh yeah.. and that their telephoto zooms (500+ mm) are lacking and they need to introduce some longer zoom lenses.

Also told them how terrible Precision is at support and that SDM needs to be a distant memory haha

This survey is almost exactly the same as one they did in Japan at the end of last year. The difference is that this one asks more detail about the specific lenses you've got and what you value about them. I think that's quite a good thing to ask, because it gets at what people are proven to buy and use, rather than just their unrealistic hopes.

My comment at the end was to keep making unusual and unique lenses, and not just follow what competitors are doing.

I haven't yet completed the questions, but this mail is close to the one i got last year together with Pentax K-S2's online announcement.

Interesting to see RICOH IMAGING asking us our opinions...
But the other questions i have in mind are :
- can we get the results ?
- does RI actually use this kind of survey further than the basic "RI shop registration & account listing collection" in marketing terms... ?

In all honesty, the discount isn't really worth having. It's a nice touch, but as with most manufacturer's retail facilities (eg. Sony), Ricoh's prices don't compete with the high street and online retailers, even with the discount applied... I'm just happy Ricoh is surveying its user base to see what we like and what we might want in future. That's a smart manufacturer

I finished the survey. I like the fact that they were interested in what improvements could/should be made to the APS-C cameras and if you were interested in getting the K-1 (as well as what you would look for in a Full Frame camera). Hopefully, they will produce most of the fast lens choices with the advanced lens design that they hinted about in the survey so that Pentax can make some drool worthy primes and zooms.
