Originally posted by Uluru Many are undecided which is their favourite one-for-all lens, 35mm or 50mm. Both can be very fast and versatile, but one is by default easier to use for landscapes, other for portraits.
On the other hand, 50mm can be used for landscapes too, and 35mm for portraits too. If a photographer has to choose only one lens, I doubt the answer would be a 200mm lens.
With a 36MP FF camera, I personally would choose 35/1.4.
I never said that a 200mm prime would be the
only lens
If you want to be chained to a 35mm prime, that is just great for you.
I would much rather have the 18-135mm zoom, which is the lens I use most {and, yes, I have a 35mm prime and a 50mm prime in my bag, but I hardly ever use either one}
