And the conversation was turned that way by 1 person. It isn't about zooms vs primes because, if we're honest, a complete system includes both. It is about 1 person who is in love with primes and thus wants to only see new primes arrive pronto in K mount.

Just let the hates hate, Pentax/Ricoh is behind Nikon and Canon AF-C, and Lens offering, surprise surprise, its something we didnt know about and is very helpfull other people tell us that... [/sarcasm]

Now, we know that, Ricoh know that, every other photog who look Pentax know that... Good thing is, Ricoh is working on the problem, Pro Zooms are out 15 to 200, and now Primes are expected, maybe in next years we get the f4 zooms and the AFC will be gradually improved.
Just a quick observation. There are 15 lenses in Ricoh's official FF lens line-up. 10 primes, 5 zooms. The latter are the ones released in the last 16 months.

I'm not saying that these 10 primes are satisfactory. (They mostly need to be upgraded or replaced, and to be added to). But surely there is no doubt that if Ricoh could only have added 5 lenses to the line-up by the release of the K-1, they had to be these 5 zooms.

Many are undecided which is their favourite one-for-all lens, 35mm or 50mm. Both can be very fast and versatile, but one is by default easier to use for landscapes, other for portraits.

On the other hand, 50mm can be used for landscapes too, and 35mm for portraits too. If a photographer has to choose only one lens, I doubt the answer would be a 200mm lens.

With a 36MP FF camera, I personally would choose 35/1.4.
I never said that a 200mm prime would be the only lens
If you want to be chained to a 35mm prime, that is just great for you.
I would much rather have the 18-135mm zoom, which is the lens I use most {and, yes, I have a 35mm prime and a 50mm prime in my bag, but I hardly ever use either one}

What Uluru said is nothing wrong. Only the matter of time pentax will bring that kind of lenses (35. 50 85 at fast apperture). But remember, 2 years ago Pentax was heavily critized for not able to deliver high quality zooms. Now we have 70-200, and 150-450. Pentax doesn't need to prove anything, everything is set in the motion right now. Ricoh has plan.

At the moment I just want that wide zoom lens they promised in the roadmap.

The big problem for this discussion is lacking any real rumor.

Yes, the problem is... any hint that Kenspo throw is put as a fact, like, Ricoh can now buy the 100mpx sensor from Sony to "Ricoh will use the Hassy 100mpx sensor on their next camera", same thing with Asashi-Man, but he is more subtle on what he write, and that make they dont wanna give more info, plus that Ricoh office dont like to speak to much.

We only had a few new products this year. So how much can you talk about them pre-release before letting the discussion going anyway but some sensible place.

Ricoh
- Ricoh WG-M2

Pentax
- Pentax K-1
- Pentax K-70
- HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE
- HD PENTAX-D FA 15-30mm F2.8 ED SDM WR
- HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR

That is it for 2016 until now. Or did I miss something?

For a small company like Pentax, that amount of releases seems very impressive for 3/4 of the year.

Yes and looking at the current market for camera's in general.....

For members who want to be in the "Today's Top Posters" list 366 days a year, they may want to have something new to talk about.

From the forum statistici is the today's list, but it is early in New York.

Ricoh is not small company, Pentax is just name of brand, no such company.

The photo division is not big... Yes, but Leica is smaller

I refer Pentax as the small independent division that it is, not for the Ricoh enterprises.

Ricoh Imaging is a small company. There is some benefit of being part of the much larger Ricoh Group, but otherwise it has to stand on its own.

It looks like "Leica Camera AG" is equal or bigger then Ricoh-Imaging.

Hmm... hard to say. It appears Ricoh Imaging has more employees, but concluding anything beyond that is dangerous.

Not a rumor, but we have to wait for a price power up about 5 - 10% next month - end of business year.
For K-1 approx. 80 - 100 $,lenses pro class same game.
That's from this week,we will see if this is the last word about prices.
Best regards
