Tamron patent for 115mm f1.4 and it's full frame

I came across this brief mention of a patent lodged by Tamron: The latest patents applications from Tamron, Sigma, Panasonic, Fuji and Canon | Photo Rumors

With recent collaborative efforts between Tamron and Pentax I thought this was worth a post here.

Not sure i'd like to try manually focussing this thing wide open.

It could be an awesome portrait lens. Tamron has done very well with its high end SP primes lenses recently. Ricoh has a medium Tele on the roadmap for 2017.

Sounds like a very interesting lens.

Tamron patents for a 20mm f2 lens and a 70-200 f4 lens were also reported in recent weeks.

Tamron 20mm F2 VC ?????????????So-net???
Tamron 70-200mm F4 VC?????????????So-net???

That latter one has a few variations. It strikes me that any of these would be welcomed in K-mount, one way or the other.

I am not sure I would expect acceptable AF performance either.

You're probably right there Steve.

I thought it an interesting lens as its design is quite narrow in scope, but then, I've lusted after the Zeiss 2/135 for quite sometime and at the end of the day there's probably not a lot of difference outside of the obvious AF v MF, all metal, $$$ etc

Come to think of it I'd actually love to try one of these Tamrons now.

Don't worry, they won't make it in a Pentax mount.

If it could be done at f/1.8 at a sensible size I'd be interested.
Then again, just revamp the A*135/1.8 as a DFA and everything would be right with the world.

Have you ever think to try the Samyang 135 f2 ?
It's pretty muche same size, weight, and spec. Just wondering if anyone used this lens often ?

Make sense to get the same FOV using K-1 with 115mm than Crop Body (say K-3) with FA 77mm (I.E 77*1.5 = 115) ya?

115mm/1.4 = about 82.2mm

Perhaps (just) an 86mm filter?
