How about this. We’re going to ask a series of questions. Blink once for yes; twice for no; And 3 times for pancakes.

Let's start with an easy one.

Are these new primes industry typical focal lengths (35/50/85/etc) or is pentax going to be quirky and do something like the limited FA's (31/43/77)?

He may not Kiss, but apparently he did Rebel before Ricoh reined him in.

there was also a new pentax q lens in the planning?

still to come?
It's a macro lens.

If it doesn't appear,
macro photographers will forever be condemned to stacking with the bigger sensors,
or having to use the adapter on the Q sensors.

I can answer that: yes!

I am very very confident that a fast 20mm prime will hit the market by mid year at the latest. We all know that the k1 is predominantly a landscape lens and that is what the pro's are crying for.

Looking at the roadmap, and going by traditional naming conventions for full frame, we should expect a lens 24mm or wider with a large aperture (maybe 1.4 or 1.8, possibly f2), something between 28mm and 35mm with f2 or slower, probably a 50 1.4, and something between an 85 1.4 or 105 f2.

Honestly we so dearly need DA15/f4's big brother that performs just as good with no HD coatings. That would be 20mm /f4 I am thinking.
And whats considered medium telephoto an 85/1.4 or a 135/1.8?

They need at least

HD DFA24/1.8WR DC
HD DFA35/1.8WR DC
HD DFA50/1.4WR DC
HD DFA85/1.8WR DC

to stay competitive. If they create something faster like 35/1.4, 85/1.4.. why not, even better.
I would much rather have an optically excellent 24mm f2.8 max aperture lens than some f1.x that performs like a Sigma and weighs a ton.

I'm going to suggest a crazy thing here; I don't see a strong need for a new 35mm lens right now. Out of the other areas where Pentax doesn't have a good prime option, going after 35mm seems kind of silly vs, oh, a 19mm f3.2 (dream numbers, just something wider than 20mm which would be great for the FF guys) or a new 28mm f2.8 I could see some replacement for the FA50 f1.4 being useful and a new 85mm for portraits sounds nice although the FA 77 seems to be doing okay in that space.

Yeah, I suggest dreaming some other dream about not getting HD coatings on a new wide prime from Pentax.

I went for an SMC DA15 when I was shopping, and I understand liking that version of the DA15 vs. the HD, but I just don't see it happening. I think the aperture blades being round vs. straight is really at the heart of why some folks may prefer the SMC version over the HD.

Kenspo mentioned previously that the primes will be pro-class, so i'd expect them to be fast with all Pentax techs, HD, WR etc..
