Considering Pentax has probably been a better value proposition vs. any comparable Zeiss product, I don't think they would charge the same. Then again, the 31 Ltd sells for about that much, so maybe your idea is closer. All conjecture anyway.

Yeah I realize $400.00 for almost any new prime is not realistic and I would be willing to pay substanionally more, but hey, a guy can dream.

it's always a matter of the value you give to a lens.

If you're going to earn money from work produce by the lens, then ponnying a bit for it ain't a problem.

Nikon has the well received Nikkor 20mm f1.8G ED listed for $US800 currently. Whilst I don't expect the Pentax equivalent to be as fast, I sure hope its in that price bracket.

For me, even one ricoh/pentax designed wide-angle prime, say 21mm, with the quality near that of a loxia would be enough.
If pentax would make such a lens I would be willing to pay for such a lens.
I haven't seen any comparable quality for under 800 euros. If it would cost 1300 euros I would still buy.

It's rather obvious that quality comes with a price.

Well, the Loxia itself is 1500$ - and it's a mirrorless design, which makes things easier...
I guess a better comparison would be a Milvus. Whatever they'll make, I hope it won't be humongous.

I think we will see 2-3 perhaps 4 new lenses in an Aquarium at CP+. ...

Prices for old lenses like FA35 and FA50 are low, Pentax has already get money for development costs and they are a little out of date too (HD, WR).
If Pentax would updated them with WR, HD and DC, the price could be 500$ instead of 300$.
I have seen prises on a lens from B&H that are much cheaper than at home, but other lenses cost close to the same.
If Pentax had sold HD560/5,6 for 3000$/€ or lower ( instead of 7000$/€ ) i think Pentax had sold quite a lot of them and more cameras too.
The fun thing is that HD560 cost 3000£ in England ( then i checked for a month a go the price for it was almost twice in Sweden with the low Pound ).

The first one, can it be a DFA28/ Limited and the second a DFA50, a updated FA50/1,4?

Far less optics and work go into a prime with respect to a 15-30 let's say, so I'd assume that based on market prices etc, a new dfa 20mm if it were a fast prime (1.8-2.8) would sell for €600. On the other hand a Dfa f4 would go for a little less

A new prime lens for FF will not stand alone. The maximum f-stop will tell us what to expect from the other lenses on the road map - we are looking for at least three lenses. A new lens will tell us price, weight, size, ... everything that will shape prime lens design and positioning of the FF line for the next couple years. Pentax is not adding new primes to FF format, they re-shape the whole prime lens lineup. They cannot just add a stand alone lens to DA, FA, ltd glass. The next step here is a big one and long awaited. It will also be too late by now to ask for certain specifications, basic specs should be pubished very soon with availability during this year.
From all I can guess at the moment, I will get 2 out of 3 of the lenses soon after presentation.

This is not a game where someone rolls a dice to define the price of the DA560. The lens should be worth 7k based on specs. Based on design and performance it failed looking at sales numbers. In my opinion shops try to sell the 560 almost at all cost not making money anymore. That is the reason for the price drop. Pentax can ask real money for good products - no need to be the low price producer on the market.
FA35/50 are probably just sold from stock. As long as people buy them, make another bacth...
There are many reasons for any typial focal length for the new primes, but please start somehow Pentax.

I do not know if someone hit dice ...
I remember I said to someone at Photokina (then they show DA560), maybe a Pentax Forum administrator, the price of the DA560 is ridiculous, it is a simpler construction than FA tele.
FA600 = 9 elements in 7 groups, 6830gr, f4, min. focus 5m, length 457mm.
DA560 = 7 elements in 6 groups, 3040gr, f5,6, min. focus 560cm, length 522mm.
My opinion is that the $ 7,000 / € is too expensive, as Penta KP.

If Pentax have sale it for 2-3000£/€ they could sell a lot and also the production became cheaper, and then sell more K3.
The price was 7000$/€, and the price in England ( Pentax HD PENTAX-DA 560mm F5.6 ED AW Lens - Pentax K Mount Lenses - Pentax Lenses - Lenses ) for the last ~2 years at lest 3000£.
Today, if i remember right, the price in EU are still 7000€ (except England) and in US it´s down to 5000$

I checked now, DA560 ( from SRS England) are 32927,82 in Swedish SKR, Sweden have 2 big web shops, and the price are 67999 SKR for DA560 Tele Pentax HD DA 560/5,6 ED AW. less then half.
I was going to wait to buy DA200 when updated, but. ...
At SRS Pentax DA* 200mm F2.8 ED IF SDM Lens - Pentax K Mount Lenses - Pentax Lenses - Lenses
599£ = 6576,78SEK. And at Cyberphoto = 9990SEK.
Even the Swedish price is good for me.
It´s EU so only a little more for transport.

But another lens:
DFA28-105 Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR Lens - Pentax K Mount Lenses - Pentax Lenses - Lenses
549£ = 6027,80SEK, and in Sweden at Cyber 5490SEK Normalzoom Pentax D FA 28-105/3,5-5,6 ED DC WR

So, who uses dice?
But that's just the pricing policy, different prices for different markets and so on.

I saw a comparison between Volvo Cars of about 5 years ago, an expensive model with diesel costing more than € 10,000 more in Sweden than in Norway, with gasoline verisionen was the opposite.

If there would be a lens that Ricoh will make.., I would like something new but very affordable to all. Maybe a plastic mount 21mm F2.0 WR. Like one lens for all forms of Pentaxian (for richer or poorer) =)
