Tim Walker using the Pentax 645z to shoot the Pirelli 2018 Calendar

As I was going through some BTS for the 2018 Pirelli calendar, I noticed Tim Walker shooting with the Pentax 645z. Tim is one of the most amazing fashion photographers out there with a portfolio is out of this world. The majority of his work is done in film with barely any post processing. He just recently got into shooting with digital. The Pirelli calendar is also one of the biggest fashion publication out there. So I just thought it was cool to see a 645z in the mix of it all.

Nice.

The scene he's shooting looks like a sequel to a Metallica "Unforgiven" type scenario crossed with a character from "The Fifth Element".

It does look like that. But the calendar is supposed to be based on Alice in Wonderland. We'll see how the end result turns out.

I am also quite fond of your photo here because it mixes "the old with the new" ... very nice !
Happy to see that this photographer (Walker) is using a Pentax camera for his fine work.
Thanks for sharing.

I always enjoy catching a glimpse of these behind the scenes fashion and modeling shoots. Even when there's burnt toast involved, LOL. I look forward to seeing the finished product and seeing more of his work, too.

(What ever happened to Ben Kanarek anyhow? I miss seeing his work and reading his thoughts here.)

IIRC he felt Pentax AF was letting him down and changed systems.

That's cos there was no Seville marmalade to go with it.

That would hide the burnt side of the toasts!
But now that I think of it ... isn't that stuff orangey-translucent ? Failed attempt to hide the burns!

Go to the 19:50 mark he starts talking about Pentax. Basically he left because the AF was bad.
