I'm torn by this lens. On one hand I like the F stop of 1.25 and the extreme depth of field it affords. On the other hand the lens is very large and although I understand why, the size is a disadvantage with an M series rangefinder as to me. One of the advantages of the Leica RF, IMO, is it's ability to be unobtrusive, particularly due to it's physical size. However I can see the advantage to this lens in low light situations. It's pricey, but with it's features and I'm assuming the legendary Leica quality and robustness of build, I'm not surprised.

Years ago I used an M4...with a 35,50 and 90 extensively and I do have an old 11f with a Leitz Elmar 50mm collapsible lens. Leica Rangefinders are wonderful cameras to use and to have. I would mind having a new Leica Rangefinder and 28mm Leica lens, but boy would that blow the budget or should I say budgets!

Oh well, one can dream.

This lens makes the camera look so small and it reminds me of the large lenses used on Sony and Fuji mirrorless cam's!
It must weight a ton too

It seems expensive, but I suppose it is worth it...

(if you're made of money)

I'm sure there is a market for it and that it would yield amazing results... but .... $$$$ !!

I fail to see the allure of , what was it? - "hair-thin depth of focus".. a 50/1.7 already has almost-too-thin a DoF, when used wide-open at portrait distance.

"impeccable speed" is a nonsense.

And "isolates subjects with extreme precision" is usually a function of the user, not the lens...

Has this been designed to appeal to the rich boys completely devoid of photographic knowledge?
Because while I can see some potential uses for a light-gathering monster like this one, "hair-thin depth of focus" is not necessarily a desirable feature, rather a by-product of the large aperture (i.e. I'd try to shoot from a reasonably large distance).

After they've sucked you dry, you'll have no blood left to transport the oxygen anyway!

Seems like focusing that wide open on a rangefinder might be challenging.
Also, justifying the price would be darn near impossible!

Ah well, you'd be trembling your life away trying to focus this thing just by thinking you owe $12,795 to the mob !
Forget about obtaining focus at f1.25 !

Makes my D FA 90mm for 645 sound downright cheap.
