Because the Japanese press releases don't include an Image Sync 2.0.

I'd ask Ricoh germany on fb and they'll ask the app programmers.
So i don't know if it's a mistake or promise.

There might be an Image Sync v2 someday... however, since that press release we had two v1.x updates (support for the K-1 II being added on the first one). That's why I'm saying mistake.

It's highly unstable, at least on my Sony Xperia XZ.

I couldn't connect to my KP with it on Nexus 5X.

Shouldn't I be able to use it on Android 7.1.1? Google Play store says my device isn't supported.

Yes, you can use it. Google just doesn't allow you to download it.
