Kodak shows off some Ektachrome photos

Not very impressive, but it is great that they haven't given up yet. Looking forward to trying it when it comes out. Never had a chance to shoot Ektachrome...

Slide film is cool, but almost impossible to get developed locally, except at the largest labs. (Or doing it on a personal scale).

I'd love to shoot more slides, if only it were easier to get them developed...

Thanks for posting!

Any new news on Ektachrome is welcome. I waiting with baited breath for its release and have a space already cleared in my freezer for a mass purchase.

Do you do your own E-6 development?

Nope I have a lab five minutes drive from where I live, that does E6 processing & mounting. So they get all my business.

If they were smart, they'd go back to those Kodak mailer envelopes as well! I always did my Kodachrome that way, with an occasional Ektachrome. The only time I tried somebody else for Kodachrome, the colors were nowhere near as good. When you bought a roll of film, you just automatically bought a mailer as well.

I guess I am lucky. We have a couple of labs that process E6. Although the best one of them recently switched to processing slides only once a week. I don't like that sign...

E6 is easy to develop. Used to do it all the time. Looking forward to shooting Ektachrome again.

The photos they provided weren’t that impressive. But I’ll hold off judgement until I shoot a few rolls.

First, this is just a total wild guess, but if unopened stored in a cool dark place, maybe, but maybe not. There, both answers. I'd grab some film, shoot something you didn't care about, and see what you got out the other end. Liquids, right? One side of me thinks you'll get color shifts or something because they will have changed in the aging, but on the other hand, I've been surprised. It's a great excuse to go shoot some film to find out. Do you still have his old tanks and reels? Here, this is E6 process:

Hopefully, the next step will be the return of IR Ektachrome. (i.e. False color, Aerochrome etc.)

I shot a roll or two of it in Yellowstone and Thermopolis WY. Gave some interesting effects to the hot springs. (Shot according to the instructions through a #12 Wratten Yellow filter - minus blue to get rid of UV and blue wavelengths.) Everything with healthy chlorophyll levels turned red. Great stuff.
