It seems like I'm not alone in only having a Flickr account to post things on PF, including Single In. I only opened the account a month ago. And don't even have 100 images. Should be good for a while.

I have 37,000 photos on my Google Photos site going back to 2002. That's my primary repository.

Thanks to everyone who has voted so far. The poll has no end date so people can continue, but it looks like around 40% of people intend to pay to go pro and the rest won't. My guess would be that this indicates a good commercial decision by Flickr as the proportion of people with paid accounts will increase significantly.

As noted by a few, the big worry is that people will commit now while the service is relatively cheap but in the future the cost could increase a lot and as time goes on it becomes increasingly difficult to switch to something else.

I voted and no, I am not going to go pro.

My main reason is, I can not afford to pay for it. Just like Adobe CC service. Yeah, it doesn't look like a lot of money, but when you don't have any money, it's a lot of money.

Just in general, I hope someone is willing to clean up old photo threads that have dead links in them. I do think that is a big use for Flickr. Certainly it is my biggest use and if people's images go away, that is something lost.

I'm not a big fan of how flickr sharpens photos anyways. I was planning on making my own site before this.

What does Flickr do to sharpen photos? I've never noticed mine being sharpened.

(edit) I see from some older complaints that Flickr does not sharpen full size up loads which I normally do on Flickr but they sharpen smaller sized uploads.

Since I have more than 1000 images I want to go pro but where can I find the discount? I've never had pro account before so I thought I'm eligible for a discount but they want to charge me the full amount.. does anyone know how one can get the discount for the first year?

I've been weeded my account to get under 1000. It hasn't been to hard. One day I was at 1406 so I cut 106. Now I am close and it just rounds off to 1k. Anyone know how to find the exact number when it does this?

I also noticed lag between deleting and the new total.

I just upgraded. Free felt nice while it lasted but it was slowly killing Flickr.
