flickr - cutting down accounts from free 1,000 GB to a meagre 1,000 photos

That is why rented "cloud" is idiocy for end-users.

Auto delete any uploaded images that go beyond the new limit by January 8, 2019.

If one assumes an average of 3 MB per JPG uploaded (probably much less than that in reality) it means the new limit is around 3 GB, down from promised 1,000 GByte.
So they remove 99,7%.

Why do you think that Yahoo sold it. They couldn't make a profit. Time to fix what was broken. What do you want for free. I see no reason why a company or someone providing a service does not have a right to make a profit. What they are requesting is not unreasonable. Plus they now also provide support which they did not do prior to the sale.

Rent is a payment made for space. The changes affect free accounts.

Is the change inconvenient for me? Yes. Did Flickr harm me or break an agreement? Not really. I will either pay for an account with them, cull photos, or move elsewhere.
