We could argue this point endlessly. When I used slide film, I depended on the automation that developed my Kodachrome to deliver what I had seen, and I learned what I needed to do in the field to get what I want; now I depend on automation in my camera to get me close, and then I decide whether a touch of level adjustment is needed. I used to sharpen also, but with the KP, I don't need that any more. All the knowledge I require of the machine is that it dependably do what it has always done in the past, and I will provide what it needs to get there.

Pentax is on the road to nowhere.
I like where they are going.

I am thrilled with the KP I purchased on Black Friday.

It’s a popular opinion among non-Pentax users.

Those who have heard of Pentax, that is.

Wasp's reply is ridiculous. If Pentax eventually goes into oblivion does that mean I surrender my camera immediately? Hell no. I guarantee that an adapter will made if Pentax fails by/for the remaining companies bodies. Look SAAB went out of business, but the people that drove them continued to do so until they died. I'm sure Precision will continue to repair Pentaxes until they run out of parts assuming any (presently unlike) demise.

It's also true that Wasp may have said that tongue in cheek--he sounds like a rather cheeky fellow anyway....

Beware the sting in the tail!

Actually, having thought more about it, an unpopular (except here, perhaps) opinion of Pentax might be:

Ricoh’s slow and steady development strategy is right for the times.

Only if Wasp is female!

Male wasps have no sting although it you pick one up their behavior is disconcertingly sting-like.

What Is Your Unpopular Photography Opinion? Here Are 29 From Industry Pros | Fstoppers
Hi Clackers, I have to agree with most of what is said there, I disagree with PENTAX is to slow for sports, just look at the work of Chris Smith, Eammon McCabe, all with manual, I know that was not your quote but it is an invalid point, about LEICA etc if the lens is sharp it is sharp no matter who makes it, haha just a bit of a say mate, regards Ian

You've been quite gloomy of late. Get a K-1. It will improve your mood.

I am not sure why so many people feel that photography has to be filtered through a mesh of tangled and inconsequential opinions.
To me it is simple - I have a camera; I take pictures; I have fun.

My criteria for rating a photo is just as simple: you notice my photo - good photo; you like my photo - fine photo; you would consider buying my photo - art!
It matters not to me whether you like my post-processing, and it should not matter to you whether I am impressed with your photos of cats.

As long as we are enjoying what we are doing, it’s a good life.

(Laughs).

If they consider buying it, it makes it a commercial product I guess, Don. It might be a cliché, and that sells. But art?

IIRC, van Gogh struggled to sell a painting in his lifetime, so it's interesting the whole connection between dollars and quality.

Such is the cautionary nature of metaphor (though it also encourages licence)...
