Generation Z likes digital cameras

Perhaps more hope for the camera makers than might meet the eye:

"Own" is very different than "Use", so lumping those two categories together really deflates the value of this survey. I own LOTS of things I don't use.
Perhaps I once used them, but the fact that I still own them is not indication that I still use them or that I would be likely to purchase an updated version
for future use.

The 5-to-1 preference for DSLRs over MILCs found in the survey discredits the "younger-people-love" MILCs theory of camera market trends.

Or it simply suggests a bunch of moms and dads gave their old DSLRs to their kids after deciding the smartphone was good enough, (or upgrading to
an A7 series).

I suspect the sample pool was heavily biased towards high school newspaper staff, kids taking a dark room class, etc. I can attest that the majority of
13-19 yrs old I know don't own a dedicated camera and take pictures solely with their smart device.

I never thought the young ones are going for the MILCs. My theorey was it's the seasoned heavy duty users with GAS, while the young ones are responsible for these incredible high prices for the K1000 being a cool vintage camera.

I think this survey is not worth the money it cost.

Nikon even created dedicated camera line for this generation. I am just wondering: do kids know it?

This 'data' seems practically made up for vested interests in the imaging/printing industry.

It is privately commissioned, not peer reviewed, so we have no reason to trust it. Its claims would need to be verified by other surveys.

That is in fact true, they are more likely to invest in a good digital camera than to invest in a car.
