If they do, it will be an surprise! (I do like surprises!) The current roadmap has a slot for a DA standard zoom in the 15-50mm range and none for a wide-range walk-around to replace the DA 18-135 or a large aperture standard zoom to replace the DA* 16-50/2.8. It may well be that the mystery lens is a low-end PLM replacement for the existing and very long-in-the-tooth 18-55/3.5-5.6 kit lens.

I really wish they'd stop iterating kit lenses

Yes, with time they always end up as caps and the market is flooded with them for decades...

Thank you very much for revising my rough translation. Could you please be kind enough to have a look at the two other tweets as well?
You're welcome, I wouldn't read too much into it at this point.

Tweet #2:
I think that DFA large aperture prime will be announced in CP+ next year. DFA* 85mm F4 will be on sale before that. (The renewal of) Telephoto DFA zoom is perhaps going to be HD coating over the older, smaller aperture one? Certainly there's gonna be an announcement of 85mm this month. A sensei who remains unnamed told me that at least one (lens?) will be released at the end of this year.
"某先生" = unnamed sensei. Sensei in this case is probably a pro photographer.

Tweet #3:
DA⭐︎ F2.8 trio zoom will be replaced with newly designed ones, one or two per year. First, together with the new APS-C flagship, DA⭐︎16-50mmF2.8 will be discontinued and possibly new DA⭐︎ standard zoom will be released. On sale before CP+? Will they replace something like 50-135mmF2.8 with a new design by the end of 2020? I guess they'll do the zoom first.

"大三元 zoom" = F2.8 trio zoom.

Thank you, much appreciated. As for '(The renewal of) Telephoto DFA zoom', i think it's simply 'DFA Telephoto Zoom Lens', as written on the roadmap.

I'm still skeptical as it's unclear to me if this is information or just wishes; OTOH as many of us (but perhaps not all) know, there's a 16-50 patent waiting to be put in practice. I don't think Ricoh Imaging intended to pair the DA* 11-18mm with the old zooms.

The DA 18-55 has already been replaced (by the DA 18-50), so no worries on this score. And because Pentax has become such a niche brand, it makes a lot of sense for them to make higher-end products where the margins are higher, so I think it's highly likely that the DA standard zoom on the line-up will be an f2.8 variant.

Even then, the D FA part is inferred by inclusion on the panel for FF-compatible lenses. It is labeled simply "Telephoto Zoom Lens" in a range of ~60-300mm.

Indeed but 'DFA' is written in the Japanese tweet together with 'Telephoto Zoom Lens', therefore I would keep it in the translation.

Traduttore, traditore you said?

I’m stepping away for a few weeks. This is all too depressing. A couple photos of an apparently finished body, a couple cryptic hints from a poster at the place that shall not be named, a Twitter lens rumor then - total radio silence again.

I’m about finished with these guys.

Nothing relieves the stress of obsessing over gear better than actually using it.

Me too. I wouldn't take these tweets too seriously, at least for now.

I'm amazed at how the prospect of Pentax finally releasing what they were working on for the last years "depressing".
Unless you've bet your hoyse on Pentax being doomed, which I know you didn't.

Isn't the 70-200mm the DFA version?

Ok, I guess so

Then let me change the wish to * features on the DFA 24-70mm... I couldn't believe that it didn't have a MF-AF switch!
