(Unconfirmed) Rumours on the next lens announcements

Fellow Pentax Forums member nnky pointed out one of them in the thread dedicated to the D FA 70-200mm f/4 but his post went a little unnoticed and the topic broached is broader, therefore I have decided to open this new thread. Without further ado, here it comes.

A Japanese guy nicknamed D850&K-1MarkⅡ posted yesterday a series of three tweets.

Tweet #1: Twitter

Translation: 'The specifications of the DFA 85mm f/1.4, which will be released by the end of the year, will be announced soon. It seems preferable to give up on the DFA 70-200 mm f/4.' (On its announcement in 2019, I presume he meant to say.)

Tweet #2: Twitter

'The DFA Large Aperture Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens should be announced next year at CP+. Before that the DFA⭐︎ 85mm f/4 (I presume he intended to write f/1.4) shall be released. Is the DFA Telephoto Zoom the brighter version with HD coating of an old lens with a smaller aperture? The 85mm will certainly be announced this month. Prof. Tsuji (who is he?) said that one lens will be released before year end.'

First, together with the release of the new APS-C flagship camera, the DA⭐︎ 16-50mm f/2.8 will be discontinued and the new DA⭐︎ Standard Zoom Lens will be released. Will it be released before CP+? Will the 50-135mm f/2.8 be replaced by a new design by the end of 2020? The first one will be a zoom lens.'

I must confess the above is a curious mix of assertions, assumptions and questions that puzzles me.

Rumours or rumor

regardless of the spelling

the meaning is the same

and without more

it may not be wise to act based only on rumor or rumour

I had also thought about releasing the new 16-50 star with the new camera, but it was only a wish. A review of some lenses would be really perfect.

DA 16-50 really needs replacement. 50-135 might need mostly new AF engine, optically it's not bad. And 85 f1.4 was announced.... long time ago, so we know they will release it, but don't know when.

I'm guessing Ricoh might be delaying something just to make it appear later this year, when officially 100years of Pentax is starting.

It all sounds promising. Hope they use better motors in the zooms. It will be nice to have available a new 85 f1.4 choice.

Would be nice to have a new 16-50/2.8 built like my DFA150-450 and DA11-18. My old 16-50 (first batch) is nearing its EOL. I worked around a failing SDM by converting to screw drive, but I noticed that it has become slightly decentered last year, so I've been using the DA20-40 as a standard zoom since. I love that 20-40, but it doesn't have the same level of build to take on the elements...

Wait and see whether this is just repeating rumours or not...

"AF" for lens tends to be mostly its motor - if they could make it faster focusing, that is great if there is still a market for it ..... but it is on page 2 of B&H's list "by best sellers".

It would be great if true. Unfortunately, the source is not verified; but I guess we'll find out this month?

just wait for whatever lens to come out. Be patient; I learned doing photography you have to be many times.

We'll definitely verify the source's credibility this month since he states the HD Pentax-D FA★ 85mm f/1.4 will be announced before the end of it. May be earlier if @nnky tells us more about this D850&K-1MarkⅡ in the meantime.

And 85 f1.4 was announced.... long time ago, so we know they will release it, but don't know when. I'm guessing Ricoh might be delaying something just to make it appear later this year, when officially 100years of Pentax is starting.
