Pick niches in the photographic world that aren't being well explored and hit those. Make sure every release is solid and desired before you throw it out there. Re-do the DA * lenses (which are sort of desperately in need of a refit).

not taking into account technological improvements,
Losing years delays of research and development on these improvements
Aiming only a "niche"
On the contrary, keeping the specificities of the brand and mixing them to improvements, is the best way to gain new markets (saving the existant)
