I would want to hear from a Japanese resident before believing that "Black Friday" does not have a business significance there.
Unless I hear from a Japanese resident that it does have a significance, I'd rather believe that it's like in Europe where there's no real incentive because end-of-year sales are far more important and consumers can only buy so much. A Christmas release makes far more sense.
Regardless, typically Black Friday is important because of the discounts, right? Last time I checked (in 2017, when I bought my laptop in the States), newly-released product had little to no discounts, so it probably wouldn't make for an attractive product in the eyes of consumers chasing those -75% or -50% stickers.
