I don't see why this discussion should end when the camera is launched? Potentially it could go on for ever...............................

Maybe Pentax have taken some steps to help people deal with flippy withdrawal syndrome. Perhaps a Pentax branded 5 inch remote display is on the cards as a K-new accessory, usable via HDMI, USB or WiFi - akin to some of the nice sunlight usable displays DJI use for controlling their drones.

All will be revealed soon [hopefully].

I like that idea. GoPro released a media mod with a shotgun mic and the option to buy a front facing screen and a light. Pentax could do something similar.

Asahiman estimated October on dpreview a few months ago. If September there should be some leaks right about now.

The way he spelt October was interesting:

"Looks like Oktober", which suggests to me Photokina was on the cards as the launch venue.

But unfortunately it was decided that photokina 2020 will be cancelled - next date is 18 to 21 May 2022.

So CP+ was cancelled as the K-new launch venue, then 2020 photokina too. Awkward.

^ asahi man once lived in Germany, which might explain the Oktober (mis)spelling.

Unless materials were available earlier and manpower were not quarantined or locked down then, I can say they can give us the camera on time. However if not, there will definitely be a major delay in production. Cebu was under Enhanced Community Quarantine for about 3 to 4 months.

Looks very strict, judging from this only 1 month old video from Cebu:

Easy to imagine it's had an impact on factory operations.

Yup. As mentioned in the other (now locked) thread, the covid situation must have had an impact on the release of the new camera - just as it has impacted most industries in the world. It's hard to imagine otherwise. I don't think the delay is entirely voluntary.

The big camera manufacturers do seem to be launching new cameras, even during this time. Whether they get them manufactured somewhere else or in the same factory, I don't know. But when resources are scarce, the big boys always get moved to the front of the waiting line. Money talks.
