Interesting that they've taken binoculars and audio recorders across with cameras. Audio recorders must surely be suffering a similar fate to P&S cameras, because of the ubiquity of the smartphone. Binoculars are in a different class altogether, although some (?many) people may be fooled by the digital zoom on their phones, or at least find that the quality is adequate for their casual usage.
I wonder if JIP will do as Hoya did, and rip out the profitable bits before finding someone to fob off the remainder. The medical and scientific imaging business stayed with Olympus, so perhaps that's not so attractive a proposition for asset-stripping, as with Hoya and Pentax.
