Keep in mind that when the DA 560 was released the price was $7000. And it is as heavy and larger than a Canon 600/4. From what I've read, the DA 560 is too large to be accepted as carry-on when flying... so there was a lot against that lens.
It *does* fit inside some airlines' requirements but that's by a hair... With adequate padding on all sides you're looking at, a diagonal fit inside a trolley and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that...
With stuff like Ryanair (yes yes, who flies Ryanair with photo gear worth enough to pay for half the plane's tickets ) you're right out for sure.

This discussion remembers me about the era of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W140 at 1991.
Some journalists wrote it didn't fit on Motorail. That is was to wide.
But the reality was: It did fit on the motorail with folded back mirrors.
Mercedes S-Klasse W140: Zu dick für den Autozug, Flotte.de, Flottenmanagement, Fuhrpark

I didn't travel with the DA560 yet, but surely will do it by train. So no problems about length of the lens

Thank you for that and just to clear the air. I don't believe Pentax actually has any influencers per se. They have some ambassadors though. And to double clear the air, I am not an official Pentax company anything. I've just been shooting Pentax for a long time and work in tech. I started my channel to help beginners to photography, which then turned into adding a Pentax focus since that's the brand I've been shooting with and there really is, just, WAY to much negativity surrounding Pentax for really no reason but to puff out the chests of those belittling the brand. I just wanted to show that there is good in the brand as well.

Thanks for subscribing

Olympus Completes Transfer of Imaging Business

Tokyo, January 4, 2021 – Olympus Corporation (“Olympus”) concluded the transfer of its Imaging business to Japan Industrial Partners Inc. (“JIP”) on January 1, 2021. The final transfer was based on the definitive agreement both parties signed on September 30, 2020, which included details of the arrangement. Interesting (to me) that 3 of the folks associated with Imaging-Resource (Madavor Media) named the Oly E-M1 III as their personal "camera of the year".

Looks like they lost the name. Olympus is gone - just OM is alive.

But if you click on the Product/Support link, you still go to an Olympus site. At the moment, the OM web site is a very thin veneer.

Interesting that they've taken binoculars and audio recorders across with cameras. Audio recorders must surely be suffering a similar fate to P&S cameras, because of the ubiquity of the smartphone. Binoculars are in a different class altogether, although some (?many) people may be fooled by the digital zoom on their phones, or at least find that the quality is adequate for their casual usage.

I wonder if JIP will do as Hoya did, and rip out the profitable bits before finding someone to fob off the remainder. The medical and scientific imaging business stayed with Olympus, so perhaps that's not so attractive a proposition for asset-stripping, as with Hoya and Pentax.

Sure looks like minimal staff to complete production runs and then they'll probably part out the remains.
