Looks like they lost the name. Olympus is gone - just OM is alive.
Indeed, but looking at other places on the web including Youtube, there are many people who still do not get it, that Olympus are no longer making cameras. They say things like "I wonder what lens will Olympus bring out next?".

It remains to be seen what brand name OM Digital Solutions will put on any new cameras or lenses they produce. Maybe "OM" (a bit terse) or "Zuiko", although other Japanese camera companies westernised their original Japanese names, (eg Nikon, Pentax, Canon, and Olympus themselves). Under the agreement they can use the Olympus name for a limited period (it's not clear how long) and my guess is that it will be only for the continued manufacture of existing models, not for any new designs by OMDC over which the now downsized Olympus will have no control. No-one knows what OMDC will do in the future, and Olympus will not want the possiblility of their name being moved down-market.

It was already there, bottom of the tree with Panasonic for ILC cameras(although they did have 3% of market share, more than the twin P cameras).

Olympus as a brand shouldn't suffer too much from what JIP do as they are no longer in photographic market place.Olympus have retained a 10% shared in OMds,a little finger in the pie that they can afford to lose(I'm guessing).

Will be interesting to see what happens.
