There is a large market for used Pentax medium format (645/6x7) film cameras and a used 67II is selling for around the same price now as a used 645D.

However if Pentax released a new 67III it would way too expensive and out of the price range for 95% of the people shooing MF film. (Of course I'd get a 67III if it was ever released....)

Thats not my impression. Been trying to sell a 645NII for ages at 1/3 of the price of a used 645D....

If anything, Pentax should just do a run of replacement parts for their 645/67 film cameras & some of their 35mm film cameras instead of making new film cameras.

Nostalgic pipe dreams, and cheap and lazy in its implied underestimation of what Pentax DSLRs and lenses bring to the table. Wish the author had chosen a different victim.

I think I remember seeing your 645NII in the PF marketplace and it looked really nice.

A nearby film/camera store In Vancouver would sell your 645NII with no issues. They do consignments sales and there are lots of MF film shooters here in Vancouver that would love that camera.

However COVID-19 has put the stop on a lot of peoples camera buying, so things aren't the same any longer. That local film/camera store was closed for a couple months and have just reopened, hopefully they will survive the pandemic financial crunch. Lots of other stores/restaurants have not been so lucky.

This guy thinks that Pentax has all the stuff laying around to just start making these cameras again. In the case of the K1000 they sold the equipment to make the camera to Ming camera company decades ago. And it would have to be different because nobody makes meter needles anymore. Yeah, not gonna happen.

just curious, let's say they did resurrect the K1000... what's the barrier to producing more meter needles?

I wish I knew as much about nuclear physics as Fstoppers knows about Pentax cameras.
Oh, wait, I DO know as much (i.e. "next to nothing").

It should be forbidden to write an article when you do not know the brand...

same topic, another author who builds on the former and comments on the original text, in this new text I recall the statement that his conclusion that Pentax recognizes defeat in the fight for new customers who want a mirrorless camera canicon group, I read such a comment and here on PF - I don't remember exactly on what topic, the texts about Pentax have been really interesting for the last few days (as if preparing a strong wind for a big storm), ha?!
