When stores are closing -- Gosselin Photo to open a new store in Montreal, Nov 2020

In an era when brick-and-mortar camera shops are shuttering their businesses, there is good news.

Gosselin Photo will open a new store in the heart of downtown Montreal (Sainte-Catherine ouest at Bleury) in November 2020.

A full-service company in business for 85 years, Gosselin offers products, lab and printing services, courses, rentals, and a full online outlet (which I have used recently). The new shop will join their four other locations in the province of Québec.

Gosselin handles Pentax, but has only a limited selection of items in stock on the shelves.

Edit: The population of the Montreal metro area is approximately 3 million. The city has at least 13 camera/photo stores, including two dealers with 2 or 3 locations and two stores that deal in used equipment.

It's a surprising and rather bold move. I used to go to their Quebec store when they carried Pentax gear. Now, I only go there once every few months, mostly to get prints. But they still sometime have used Pentax gear, often at good price, so it's still worth to look at the used section of their website from time to time.

Anyway, I wish them good luck!
