Lest the quaint hamlet of Vancouver be shamed by one who actually lives about 200m outside its wooden fortifications...True confessions time...
I am and have been well aware of the 2019 rumor. It was a post from 6 Sept 2019 on the Czech Sigma Facebook page (owned by Sigma importer Hama.cz) that was picked up by Pentax Rumors (
LINK). The PR post was, in turn, by picked up by DPReview and PetaPixel with DPR contacting an unknown resource at Sigma UK to confirm the report.
Since that time, Pentaxians everywhere have lived in dread of when their favorite Sigma lens models were going to disappear from dealer inventory. However, by shear stroke of fate such storied and popular models as the 35mm f/1.4 Art continue to be readily available in even the more humble markets such as N. America* and the United Kingdom,** perhaps because of excess residual inventory or pity taken by Sigma by continuing production at a loss. Who can say? Sadly, Australia has no Pentax-K from Sigma; they are bereft.
