Let's have a survey!

There has been a fair bit of speculation as to what the next new Pentax lens will be after the DA* 16-50 PLM. I was thinking that it might be interesting to do a survey of Pentax Forum members to see what lenses they would like to see next. The results might be of some interest to Ricoh in Japan. The people who read the Pentax Forums are likely the best source of new purchases of Pentax product so asking them what they might like might make sense.

Also, there was talk some time ago about a FF teleconverter but I have head of nothing recently. This seems to make sense to me since the FF lens lineup has increased in volume sufficient to make this a viable add on. Or, perhaps teleconverters do not sell in sufficient quantities as to be a priority item.

The lens roadmap is clear, here are not many choices.

There had been several surveys in the recent years. So why another one?

There's a dedicated thread about the TC, so why creating a separe one?

Ah, but they do occasionally throw a surprise in there, but Steve is correct with the DFA 21.

Other than the HD refreshes of FA lenses, which don't seem to appear there?

I think this is a valid question because only about half of what Ricoh released in the past few years were on the roadmap beforehand. Especially in APS-C, most of what they might introduce would overlap with existing products, so it does not make much sense to announce them too far in advance.

Of things not on the roadmap, the ones that would make most sense to me are for DA:
- A PLM/HD remake of the DA 18-135
- A variable aperture wide angle zoom (because the only things current are the expensive DA* 11-18/2.8 and the DA 10-17 fisheye) - A fairly recent Tamron is available for rebranding
- DA Limited tele zoom (Since the 20-40 zoom has been a good seller)
- A PLM remake of the 50-135/2.8 (to complete a modernized trio of f2.8 zooms)

For DFA (aside from what is on the roadmap)
- A variable aperture wide angle zoom - There is also a Tamron candidate for rebranding
- Something like a 24-120/4 mid-range zoom
- Renewed versions of the 200/2.8 and 300/4 with better motors and official DFA status
- A DFA limited zoom - if the concept sells on APS-C, it could work on FF
- I also like the idea of and samples from the Tamron 35-150/2.8-4 and think that would be an interesting one to rebrand

DA* 24/1,4 (or something similar in about 18-24mm).

Sounds like a place to dream about things we'll never see.
In that vein I suggest a modern D FA * 200/4 ED [IF] WR Macro since I'll likely never get the FA 200/4 ED [IF] Macro.

I really miss a good FF alternative for my DA* 16-50. There is nothing in this range up to now.

Ooooo...Kkkkkaaaa...in the spirit of that note I am pretty sure they are on the cusp of announcing both HD D FA 135/2.8 and HD D FA 28/2.8 quality consumer primes.
