I don't agree that it makes sense. It might be a way to create warm feelings, but it is not a way to sell cameras. It only promotes further the widespread notion that Pentax is a dead brand, or at least one only for old geezers stuck in the past. The K1000 is a particular nuisance in this respect - it did a lot for Pentax's finances back in its day, but the cult of worshiping its walking ghost is a burden today.

That is not something to be pleased about. Many of those posts assert the belief that Pentax no longer make cameras, or at least that Pentax cameras are not good like they used to be (and I've corrected them).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing the interest in old cameras. I have a couple myself and I contribute frequently to the film SLR forum here. But that is a specialised interest and we should not be letting the tail wag the dog : I want our brand to go forward.
