This might have some impact on Pentax’s lens manufacturing.

It might have more of an impact on the people there.
I'm not sure if worrying about camera production while people are dying from a pandemic is something I would admit to.

Hopefully this news won't trigger a Pentax lens purchase rush like it was for toilet paper .

Geography

The factory is near the capital Hanoi, more than 1100 kms away. Troops in Ho Chi Minh City aren't going to have any impact

Not really. We've seen how easily this virus spreads. New Zealand was looking really good until all of a sudden it wasn't so good. If they have an outbreak in Ho Chi Minh City, it's pretty certain that the entire country will be affected.

I am magnitudes more concerned about the human suffering.

I am just noting this could have other admittedly mild consequences.

Every virologist and epidemiologist knew a pandemic was coming. Hopefully we will be better prepared for the next one.

New Zeeland is still looking really good.

The US has about 360 times the death rate per million population as New Zeeland.

We know the USA is a basket case, and we know why. New Zealand went from 0 to 1 to dozens in a matter if days with their recent breakout.
I do wish people would read to understand rather than just to reply.

As of the writing of this article they have no patients in ICU.

New Zealand battles worst Covid-19 outbreak since last year as Delta cases rise - CNN

That is still doing incredibly well.

I wish others countries had the same performance and standards.
