The issue with the FA 50 is that it not only doesn't have much sharpness wide open, it has really poor contrast. I really didn't like that lens and currently shoot with a DA *55 as a result.
When I got the D FA* 50/1.4 I compared it directly to the FA 50/1.4.
I recall the FA lens has to be stopped down to F8 before it gets good. The D FA* lens was really good at f1.4 and excellent by f2.

And a preliminary page is up in Amazon Japan: DFA21/2.4 Limited available in amazon jp - PentaxForums.com
Aperture is f/2.4, price is ~80% of the 16-50 PLM (so it would turn out to be ~1230€ in Europe).

New HD Pentax-D FA 21mm f/2.4 ED lens coming soon? - Pentax Rumors
Saw this link on the “other” forum. Yen to dollars makes this about $1,400.

I think the preferred method is to set up a relationship between two new lenses because the price doesn't translate currency wise.

Multiply the dfa21/da1650 ratio in yen with the price of the da1650 in your market and currency.

House, how expensive do you think the new lens will be based on your calculations?

I just got my quote. Can$1749.99. About what I expected. I can pre-order as of yesterday.
I'm still on the fence about it.

Is that including tax? Seriously, everyone gets ~1200-1300€ quotes but us poor Europe folks?

Add 11% for our various sales taxes. It totals out to Can$1942.49 taxes in. I suspect for me it would be a very expensive paperweight.
