I think you're referring to their best of the year wrap up when they do the drinking games. This is a prediction video in which they appear to be drinking water. It looks like it was produced in the same location as the best of wrap up, though. They might have started the inebriation later.

I think they are more likely to do what a lot of Pentax owners are doing at the moment - keep the DSLR's and glass that they have, and maximise usage and life. Pro's in time will make decisions based on market and client requirements. As you have noted, lenses is where most people have a lot of investment tied up, more so than any particular camera body.

I personally see my K-3 III purchase as having a 7-10 year life for my hobby stills photography, and who knows where innovation and development will have taken us by then.

Like many I have a smartphone, so that camera tech and computational imaging is available to me, and I also have a small m4/3 mirrorless system for my 4K work video production.

As always personal use cases and requirements will drive personal/professional purchase decisions.

That was also my plan, but what I am getting from the K-3 III is so good I am holding off on the K-1 II for now. I am not sure the K-1 II gives me much extra for the images I like to make.
