There are phone formats (whatver they are, IDK), One Inch, 4/3, the APS-family, FF, and MF (whatever that is). How many more digital formats do you need?
Then on my FF K-1 (and no doubt other brands' equivalents) I can menu select 24x24, and APS-C as alternatives. Then anyone can post process to any shape and size they want, much easier than in film days. Digital "Medium Format" is smaller than the film MFs : 645, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8 etc, simply because it is exponentially more expensive to make larger sensors, and TBH they would not be needed.
