Not yet, but maybe they will register, possibly for online events. I will monitor the list of exhibitors as we get closer to CP+, because I'm expecting to see a mockup of the Pentax K1 mark III and maybe some specs.

They won't. The registration deadline was the 30th of September, 2022.

Has CP+ been a venue where Ricoh or Pentax has normally announced something? It's awfully hard to be a Pentax fan.

CP+ used to be the event where we could see something new coming from Pentax, even had PF dedicated interviews with Ricoh reps. Not anymore I guess

But Ricoh appears at the YouTube video presentation of CP+

My bad! It's from the 2019 exhibition... so not, they don't!

This has been clear for some months now. The exhibitor list sans Ricoh was published long before the end of last year. Ricoh Imaging wasn't planning to attend CP+ 2022 either, even before the event was cancelled. Now they have formalized their online marketing strategy, so it was never likely that they would spend the money on attendance at CP+ 2023.

It's worth noting that Pentax has been holding events around Japan throughout the year and also online events quarterly. They also have a nicer permanent presence in Tokyo. So I think they have just reprioritized how they spend on marketing.

The problem with CP+ was that there was pressure to announce items to coincide with the show, but also at the same time as all their competitors. The press would obviously pick up mainly on the announcement of the larger brands and Ricoh's efforts would be underreported.

Personally, I feel sad because I liked going to CP+. I always thought Ricoh did a good job of standing out with an original booth. I'm still not sure whether I'll bother to go this year.

I think it'll be interesting to see how many visitors go to CP+ compared to the time before COVID. In 2019 they had 69,615 (730 foreign visitors).

Pentax released a video for 2020 CP+, which was cancelled because of the emerging pandemic. They announced, "In this video, members of PENTAX’s Product Planning Department will describe a range of models now in development, including the next flagship model of the PENTAX APS-C-format digital SLR series and new interchangeable lenses. A great chance to witness the future of PENTAX!" They also released several seminar videos.

CP+ 2021 was entirely online. In my searching, I only found the press release announcing delay in K-3 Mark III. There was a talk (in Japanese without subtitles), however,
for which they released shortly after. See this PentaxForums thread.

CP+ 2022 was entirely online, but Ricoh/Pentax did not participate.

Please, by all means, make any corrections to this summary, which is based on a few quick searches.

Then , this year will probably be online again. I'm looking forward to see how the belief in the future of SLR photography unfolds.
